Bun B always saw the full potential of what has become a beloved burger spot in Houston.

The UGK rapper is co-founder of Trill Burgers, which offers smash burgers, lemonade, and fries, and on Tuesdays, smash tacos. Andy Nguyen (creative director) and Nick Scurfield (chief marketing officer), as well as chefs Mike Pham (chief operating officer) and Fernando Valladares (executive chef) are also co-founders in the business.

Trill Burgers’ first storefront opened in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston in 2023 and had already secured the accolade of making the best burger in America by “Good Morning America” a year earlier, as AFROTECH™ previously told you.

The business has been a fixture at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo since 2023 and also earned its Gold Buckle Foodie Award for Best Classic Fair Food. Additionally, Trill Burgers is a vendor at Texas Dow Employees Credit Union Stadium for University of Houston football games, according to information shared with AFROTECH™.

“I’ve been given this company as a reason,” Bun B (CEO and Chief Burger Officer) said in fireside chat at the AFROTECH™ Conference 2024. “There’s a reason God chose me for this. There was no ‘I want to make a hamburger.’ This was given to me. I was presented with this opportunity to be a part of it, but I could see what this company could be from a mile away, from the beginning. That’s why I put so much time and effort into helping build and scale this company.”

Trill Burgers has now added a third Houston location to its belt. Its second spot in Spring opened in April 2025, and its most recent expansion is a 2,800-square-foot storefront that can seat 92 guests at 20220 Fort Bend Pkwy, Suite 140, in Missouri City for those looking to support, according to a press release shared with AFROTECH™.

A grand-opening celebration is set for Jan. 7.

“Opening a Trill Burgers in Missouri City is especially meaningful,” Bun B said in the news release. “This part of Houston is near and dear to me, so bringing our hometown restaurant to such a special place means more than I could ever say. The Trill Burgers team loves the city of Houston, and we are incredibly grateful for each and every opportunity we get to bring our burgers to more members of our community. I hope to see everyone at Trill Burgers Missouri City soon.”

The company also shared that it plans to open a fourth location at 7616 Westheimer Rd. in Houston in 2026.
